Meet Our Board of Directors


Rob Burroughs - President, Founder, Director, Curator- Rob is the Grandson of a WWI Army Doughboy, the son of a WWII USN Veteran, the brother of a Vietnam Veteran and the father of a U.S. Marine. Rob is also a Senior Chief Petty Officer with 21 years as U.S. Navy Seabee and is still proudly serving in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He has served two tours in Iraq as a Convoy Commander with I-MEF Forward (Piledriver) and is a decorated Combat Veteran. Rob has performed close to 1800 services as a Team Leader for the U.S. Navy Honor Guard at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery. Rob is a civilian fixed wing and helicopter pilot with over 1,000 hours logged. Rob is also the President of Honor Flight Northern California and President of the Northern California Veterans Home Support Committee. He is also a board member for AMVETS, Redding Community Access Channel 11 and United Way. Rob holds a BA in Education, a minor in Maintenance Engineering and an Instructors Certification with the U.S. Navy.

Dianna Burroughs - Vice President, Chief Finance Officer - Dianna is a co-founder with over 23 years of financial accounting and an AA degree in Business Administration and Accounting. Prior U.S. Navy, Family Support Ombudsman to Iraq 2003. Currently serves as Finance and Office Manger for the United Way of Northern California, a non-profit organization. She is the wife of Senior Chief Petty Officer Rob Burroughs, U.S. Navy Seebees, mother of Corporal William Burroughs, U.S.M.C. and Robert Burroughs, a recent graduate from West Valley High.

Jenifer Meda – Board Secretary & Marketing
Director – Jenifer bings over 30 years of printing, graphics and marketing
experience to the Museum. She studied Business Administration and Graphic
Communications at Laney College in Oakland, California. She started her print
and marketing career in a fast-paced print and mail house in Oakland as
production assistant and progressed to Production Manager,
Purchasing Agent and Lead Estimator of Commerce Printing in Sacramento, CA. In
1999 Jenifer and husband, Jeff Meda (of 25 years) moved to Cottonwood for the
“better life” and to raise their 3 children. Jenifer has continued to work in
her field and volunteer for American Red Cross and now brings her experience to
the Northern California Veterans Museum & Heritage Center

Debbi Johnson - Director of Education and a Board Member - Debbi is the daughter of a U.S. Army WWII Veteran and the wife of a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. She is graduate of Shasta College, served on the California State PTA Board for six years and is an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of AMVETS, currently serving as President of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 1996 and 1st Vice President of AMVETS Department of California. Debbi was highly instrumental in the founding of the Northern California Honor Flight Program in which she is Secretary of the Board and a trainer for Honor Flight Guardians.

Barry Zanni -Museum Technician/Docent Supervisor - Board Member Barry, a native of southern Siskiyou County. Barry fell in love with history in his childhood by going out and looking though old dump sites for arrowheads and old bottles. He often would sit and listen to local Veterans recount their war time experiences furthering his thirst for history. About 40 years ago Barry and his wife Elsie moved to Redding where Barry went to work for Shasta County as a Chief Investigator for 34 years. As an avid student of local, US and world history his knowledge is often displayed as he is involved in Civil War and Western re-enactments.

Larry Owings -Visitors Services Manager and Board Member
Larry is a 20 year Navy Veteran having served aboard the USS Oriskany CVA-34, USS Yorktown CVA-10,USS Lexington CVA 16, USS Hancock CVA 16, and the USS Midway CVA-41. During Larry's 20 year service he crossed the equator twice, sailed around South America and The Horn. While in the Navy Larry worked on the flight deck with the catapults and arresting gear. Larry married his lovely wife Ester in 1959. After his time with the US Navy, Larry went to work for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he worked 20 years as a supervisor for the clean room for the laser program. Larry is a past president of the Mustang Car Club and he is also a member of a local computer club.
